Rhian Davies is Senior Lecturer in Hispanic Studies at the University of Sheffield. Her research interests include nineteenth-century Spanish literature and culture (especially Benito Pérez Galdós) and the role of the press during the fin de siglo. She has published a monograph and range of articles on the cultural review La España Moderna (1889-1914), which was founded by José Lázaro Galdiano. She has also published on Galdós’s work as a journalist and his Torquemada novels (which includes an electronic edition of Torquemada en la hoguera [1889]). Her latest passion is contemporary Canarian literature and culture, and film.
