Inclusion in the new Languages Research Database
The Reading Bodies project has been selected as one of ten projects to help launch the new Languages Research Database—a tool designed to connect languages research with policymakers in an accessible and practical way.
The Database offers impact-focused research summaries tailored for policy audiences. Each entry is tagged by theme, geography, and discipline, making it easy to search and navigate. You can find the Reading Bodies summary here.
We hope that being included in the Database will help policymakers engage with the project’s work and support the policy-focused aspects of our research going forward.
Takeover of The Polyphony
The Reading Bodies ‘takeover’ of The Polyphony presents 5 connected pieces, published 20th to 24th October 2025, aimed at a broad readership of academics, health professionals and the public. Edited by Dr Jordan McCullough for the Multilingual Medical Humanities series, the contributions are as follows:
- Katharine Murphy (University of Exeter), Historical Narratives of Illness in the Multilingual Medical Humanities – the polyphony
- Olivia Glaze (School of Advanced Study), Languages, Medical Humanities and Policy: Intersections in Research and Practice – the polyphony
- Nicolás Fernández-Medina (Boston University), The Biomedical Sciences and the Spanish Avant-Garde – the polyphony
- Rocío Roedtjer (Independent Scholar), How Medical Metaphors of the Past Are Shaping Our Future – the polyphony
- Charles Forsdick (University of Cambridge), Multilingual, Transnational and Translational: Rethinking the Medical Humanities – the polyphony
Together, these pieces reflect on the project’s contribution to rethinking the medical humanities through multilingual, transcultural and translational approaches. We hope readers enjoy the takeover!

Reading Bodies Anthology
We’re delighted to share our Reading Bodies creative anthology published with Riptide Journal (2024). The anthology brings together over 40 submissions by educators, academics, health professionals, creative writers, illustrators and other members of the public. It includes new voices alongside established authors, interweaving short fiction, poetry and artwork. Thanks to our project partners and everyone who contributed!
The Reading Bodies anthology features on the Behavioural and Cultural Insights Hub, a knowledge-sharing platform for health practices developed in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
